Prominence

Back

The main idea behind these series of paintings is the condition of standing out from the crowd by being particularly noticeable in some way, shape or form. Larger amounts or certain placements of the metal leaf contribute to the idea of standing out from the canvas. Additionally, the surrounding colors underneath or around the gold or silver leaf help make the gold and silver almost impossible to be overlooked. Similar to how someone projects themselves and their inner qualities to the world, the shimmer of the gold and silver is the quality that is left behind surrounded by vast dark or light shades of color.
